A crazy murder case that started out as a friendship.

Andy Barclay (Gabriel Bateman), a boy who lives in a single-parent household, has few friends due to his introverted personality and is a shy boy who spends his days at home. His mother, Karen (Aubrey Plaza), is a young single mother who works at a local toy store and is devoted to her son, but she also has a playful side, often inviting new partners into her home. One day, his mother Karen gives her son a Buddy doll for his birthday. However, the doll hid a terrible secret... The basic setting of the rebooted version of Child's Play is based on the original 1988 version.

The big difference is the presence of Chucky. The relationship between the murderous doll Chucky and the boy Andy seems to have been greatly influenced by Don Mancini's visionary script, the creator of the original Child's Play . Mancini's first screenplay was the original Child's Play, written in 1985 while still in college, and originally given the title ``Blood Buddy.''

In this first draft, the story was that the consciousness of a lonely boy who lost his father gradually began to inhabit a doll. The doll, which enjoys the boy's various feelings, becomes a spokesperson for the boy's anger and begins killing people who get in his way one after another. However, it is. This first script was not made into a film as it was, but was revised by several people and released as a horror story about a murderous doll inhabited by the soul of a murderer. That was 1988's Child's Play.

The story of this film, the rebooted version of Child's Play, is very similar to Don Mancini's visionary original. The first half of the film explores the emotional aspects of Chucky and Andy, and portrays Chucky, who has been a symbol of fear, from a different perspective. Andy, a boy who lives alone, is particularly bad at expressing his emotions, such as anger. As per Mancini's original idea, the new Chucky in the reboot version is the "incarnation of Andy's anger" and will do whatever he can to kill those who are the targets of the boy's anger.

In the previous series, Chucky was just a murderous doll who chased young boy Andy around. On the other hand, in the reboot version, a relationship of complicity is established between Chucky and the boy Andy, and we feel that there is room for sympathy not only for the boy but also for Chucky's murderous actions. This is because the fundamental motivation for Chucky's actions stems from the universality of his love for young Andy.
