Actresses surrounding Dorothy and Bill Murray

I would also like to mention the people who supported Hoffmann in ``Tootsie.'' Director Sidney Pollack plays Michael's agent George. Immediately after George asserts, ``No one will hire you if things continue the way they are,'' George's expression is so real that it is hard to believe that he is an amateur. In fact, because he is a film director, I think he was able to marvel at the sensibility of an actor who goes so far as to disguise himself as a woman. Pollack gives a truly Oscar-worthy performance in this film.

Also, don't miss the actresses. Jessica Lange's restrained performance, which is the complete opposite of her previous work, `` Actress Frances '' (1982), perfectly embodies the image of a woman who fascinates Dorothy and Michael at the same time. Lang was the favorite to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Also, Teri Garr's outstanding comedienne performance as Sandy, who is dumped by Michael (also nominated for an Oscar). Geena Davis made her film debut as April, a new actress who doesn't care about nudity. The girls, including Lang, have become indispensable talents in Hollywood movies. In that sense, ``Tootsie'' can be said to be a work that helped discover actresses in the film industry, or helped bring about feminism.

Another important actor appears in Tootsie. It's Bill Murray. By having his name removed from the opening credits, Murray shed the silly image that had been established in his previous films ``Meatballs'' (1979) and `` Balls Balls '' (1980). He plays the role of Michael's housemate and screenwriter Jeff, and coolly watches the end of the cross-dressing incident. He's quiet, sarcastic, and above all, if you look closely, he's good-looking. ``Tootsie'' also paved the way for actor Bill Murray's future career.
