Two-Face / Mr. Freeze

There are countless evils that plague Gotham City, and they take many forms. The Joker is not the only villain who stands in Batman 's way and threatens to undermine our sense of morality and ethics. From the typical villains who appear in movies to the strange criminals who have a strange presence in the comic strips, I would like to introduce some of them, although the lineup will depend on personal preference.

・Two Face

However, let's start with the famous ones. Two-Face, a monster with half his face burnt off, is probably an important villain along with the Joker. It is visually interesting to see exactly half of his face burnt out and his suit with different designs on the left and right sides. He used to be a district attorney called Harvey Dent, who worked with Batman and Superintendent Gordon to wipe out the mafia from Gotham, but when the mafia retaliated by having sulfuric acid poured on his face and suffering severe burns, he became evil. Awaken to. When the shock of his injury revives the trauma of his father's abuse and unleashes his repressed violence, Dent, a man passionate about justice, becomes a monster with an evil second face.

He is a typical villain who has appeared many times in movies. In `` Batman ,'' Billy D. Williams plays the role of Dent when he was a prosecutor, and in `` Batman Forever ,'' Tommy Lee Jones plays Two-Face, who has already become a monster. In `` The Dark Knight ,'' Dent is depicted as a tragic man who loses one side of his face and his lover due to a trap set by the Mafia and the Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays Dent, who becomes corrupted into evil. Two-Face's face expressed with this CG is no longer a burn. It looked like a skeleton covered with charred flesh, and the eyeballs were exposed without eyelids, which was horrifying. He has become a character with an impact comparable to Heath Ledger's Joker.

Due to its origins, it is strongly connected to dual personalities and duality, and is characterized by important decisions being made by tossing a coin. The coin used is a so-called error coin with both sides facing up, and during his time as a prosecutor, it was considered a lucky coin that always turned heads, but when it became Two-Face, one side of the coin was also burnt (depending on the version). For the first time, a ``back side'' was born (also in the case of a wound). It is an item that symbolizes Two-Face, who has a handsome face, but one side has become ugly and deformed, and his spirit, which was once full of light, now has a different side. I think the appeal of this villain is that he still retains at least half of what he was like when he was a good guy. The more the left and right sides look different, the more unstable they become.

・Mr. Freeze

Cryogenic scientist Victor Fleiss was searching for a cure by freezing his wife, who was suffering from an incurable disease, but due to an accident during an experiment, he was transformed into a person who had to keep his body at a low temperature, and was forced to wear a cryosuit. be forced to wear one. Furthermore, Mr. Freeze's general background is that he is equipped with a freezing laser gun and starts committing robbery to raise funds for his wife's treatment. This is an example of the tragic background unique to Gotham's criminals.

The monster has a cold body, a cold heart, and a sad snow globe-like atmosphere that suits the dusting of powder snow, but in the movie, he has a strong impression of being played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in `` Batman& Robin: Mr. Freeze Strikes Back .'' right. He is a character who laughs loudly and fires freezing lasers at random, and makes a series of cold gags, but he also explains about his wife and his unfortunate circumstances, and there is also a side where he is tricked into thinking that Batman was the one who killed his wife and is used against him. . The sight of Schwarzenegger, a skinhead painted silver-blue, wearing a dazzling, luminescent cryosuit, was an unforgettable visual. The character was played by three actors in the 1960s TV series, including director Otto Preminger.
