Trench coat "The Samurai"

From Humphrey Bogart to Audrey, the trench coat was a favorite of Hollywood's Golden Age stars. It is a classic fashion item that brings back many famous scenes to life just by hearing it.

The trench coat originated as a waterproof coat worn by the British Army in the trenches during World War I. Durable and waterproof, they typically feature double-layer construction, raglan or set-in sleeves, a cape back, and a secure belt. It is probably the most familiar military wear that later became popular as a traditional item.

The idea was developed by two major British luxury clothing manufacturers, Burberry and Aquascutum. Furthermore, its origins can be traced to a wrap coat developed by Thomas Burberry, the founder of Burberry, and worn by British officers during the Second Boer War (1899-1902), which simply tied the waist belt without a chest button. It is said that it is based on Tairokkenkoto.

Now, in the history of movies, the trench coat's presence was most prominently shown in `` The Samurai '' (67). This is because for the assassin Jeff, played by Alain Delon, the trench is nothing more than a military uniform for going out on a killing field. The ritual of going into battle, which consisted of slipping the sleeves through a slightly oversized, double-breasted trench coat, tying the coat belt tightly, raising the high collar, pulling the fedora over the head, and quickly stroking the brim with one's fingers, was like preparing for death. Isn't it like a soldier's routine?

A brass D-ring that seems to have been added during World War I to carry equipment such as map cases, swords, and grenades. A self-belt with this ring extends to the waistline of Jeff's trench coat. The more you check the details, the more you realize that the trench coat is directly connected to the character and the story.

In this way, Alain Delon brilliantly updated Humphrey Bogart's style, which showed off the essence of the trench coat in `` The Maltese Falcon '' (41).

A masterpiece that is a modern update of the tie locken coat, which is said to be the prototype of the trench coat. A classic design combined with a trendy silhouette.
