Hirata: It was okay. The first half of the movie is the same as the original, and there are many expressions that can be called ``Karifu-bushi''. There were also scenes that were clearly inspired by Minegishi's drawings, and you could feel the respect for the original work on screen.

Q: In the original story, the main character Goto's reason for revenge is that when he was a boy, he was moved to tears by a song sung by a gloomy boy in his class. It seems that Mr. Karinade actually had the same experience.

Hirata: Yes. When I was in elementary school, there was a boy who couldn't communicate well with other students. The child sang the assigned song in music class so beautifully that I cried when I heard it. That memory is so vivid that the second half of the story revolves around the idea of ​​``what if that child takes revenge on me?''

Q: This is a very original reason for revenge, but why didn't director Park Chan-wook use it in the movie?

Hirata: Director Park originally wrote the script based on the original story. But the two-hour length of the movie is not enough to convince the audience. That's why he changed it to his original reason, saying, ``There's no point in hating you if that's the case.'' That's why Director Park said he was so nervous when he met Karina for the first time. At the very beginning, Director Park apologized, saying, ``I'm sorry!'' I think he thought he might get punched (lol).

Q: Mr. Karinade may have been able to accept the changes because he saw the completed video.

Hirata: If the Korean side had submitted the script to Mr. Karinade in advance, the movie might not have been made. Having said that, I don't think the Korean staff intentionally didn't give them the script. I think it was just a simple mistake (lol). I think that coincidence led to the creation of that movie.
