Wizards also celebrate Christmas

What makes the world of Harry Potter so enjoyable is that it incorporates a lot of fun things and things that match the atmosphere. What I mean by that is, for example, a magical school attended by witches and apprentice wizards, where Christmas is celebrated. It sounds a little strange to hear that witches and wizards celebrate Christmas, but there is no deeper meaning to it, and it just gives the impression that Christmas itself is being celebrated. The Great Hall of Hogwarts Castle, decorated with a large tree, is warm and gives a feeling of euphoria just looking at it. The atmosphere of the wizarding world and Christmas is a perfect match.

In my personal memory, the first movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was released in Japan on December 1, 2001. As a child, it was a great luxury for me to have the movie version of my favorite Harry Potter released right in the middle of the Christmas season. In this sense, the images of the wizarding world and Christmas are connected.

When many students go home for Christmas vacation, the always lively Hogwarts becomes a little empty. Harry's house is the home of his aunt's family who bully him, so of course he doesn't go home. For him, Hogwarts is home. The Philosopher's Stone follows Harry's first year at Hogwarts, where he also celebrates his first Christmas.
