The creepy villain of the TV drama “Fargo”

Fargo is a drama version based on the Coen brothers' film of the same name. Each season tells a different story, with different time periods, settings, and characters, but the main setting is the winter American Midwest. The same characters sometimes appear over the course of the season, and the format is consistent, with ordinary citizens getting involved in incidents and police officers acting like crazy characters. This also applies to the movie version. And it begins with the promised sentence, "This is a true story." Until now, up to season 3 has been broadcast.

Each season has a different story, so we'll start with season 3, which focuses on twin brothers Emmit and Ray Stassie, played by Ewan McGregor in two roles. Emmit, a successful businessman, tries to return the money he borrowed earlier to the company, but a suspicious man, V.M. Varga, who appears as his agent, refuses to accept it, saying that he thought he was making an investment. The company was quickly taken over. Once Emmit receives the money, he has no choice but to work with his right-hand man, Cy (Michael Stuhlbarg), to discover Varga's terrifying secret side...

This Vaga is just creepy. There is no outward warmth like the characters introduced so far. His hair is messy, his suit is torn, and he doesn't look clean. His most distinguishing feature is his dirty, ragged teeth, which show off every time he speaks or smiles, apparently due to his habit of eating large meals at once and then eating them back later. The way he speaks is sticky and scary, but for some reason I can't help but listen to what he says.

He seems like a shadowy person from the beginning, but I think his plain appearance accentuates his eeriness and suspiciousness. His teeth are dirty, but he's still basically just a tired old man. That's why those watching with Ewan McGregor will feel fear as they learn their true identity. And I think that this kind of fear can only be expressed by such a person.

There are still many works by David Thewlis, so I'd like to check them out one by one. I thought it would be nice to know more about other British actors.
