Whoopi's masterpiece, an icon of the '90s

In the movie world of the 80s and 90s, the presence of talented actors such as Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, and Whoopi Goldberg was divine. Even for me, who had just been baptized as a movie fan at the time, the name was like a guarantee for a movie, and I relied on the feeling of trust that if they were in it, I would use it on movie theater posters, flyers, or on TV. I used to check the movie broadcast schedule frequently.

I wonder if it's because I have such a strong imprint on it. As soon as I saw the nostalgic title ``A Sister Act'' for the first time in a while, a fierce wind that could be described as gorgeous euphoria instantly swept through my entire body. What comes to mind is the image of sisters in a church singing gospel music while swaying their bodies from side to side. Of course, in the middle is Whoopi, passionately conducting the show. If you're feeling a little low on energy during your prolonged stay-at-home life, it's well worth giving this work a try, as if it's like a refreshing drink.

“A Sister Act” Preview

What struck me when I watched it again was the sense of stability that has not faded even after nearly 30 years. I didn't realize it when I was a kid, but the actors who solidify the frame are amazing. Harvey Keitel plays the role of a gang boss who has an affair with Whoopi despite having a wife and children. Maggie Smith, best known for her role in Harry Potter, plays the abbot who hides Whoopi, who witnesses a murder. The sequel also stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Lauryn Hill.
