Responsible for digital effects
Taylor had chosen another company, Digital Effects (*4). The company is a CG production company founded in New York in 1978 by Judson Rosebush.
The company is in charge of the opening, where parts come together to form the human body, and the regular polyhedral character ``Bit.'' Bitt was originally intended to be a Kyogen character who would always follow Flynn, but most of his scenes were deleted due to budget issues.
*4 After ``Tron'', Digital Effects worked on many Japanese commercials. The company also worked on the Jupiter that appears in the Toho film `` Sayonara Jupiter '' (1984), which was written, written, and directed by Sakyo Komatsu. After President Rose Bush left in 1985, business performance rapidly deteriorated and the company went bankrupt in 1986.
Location shooting
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (*5) was used as a filming location for Encom.
This facility was originally built for the purpose of developing hydrogen bombs, but since the late 1970s, when nuclear testing was severely restricted , its main research themes have been laser fusion and biotechnology. Therefore, the laser irradiation device " Shiva " that appears in the movie is the real thing.
*5 At the time, CG research was being conducted at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory by Nelson Max. Max and the author have been working together for two years since then. The laboratory has also been used as a location for several science fiction films. For example, in Star Trek: The Motion Picture Into Darkness (13), it is used as the Enterprise's engine room.
