It all started with inspiration from a screenwriter.

The setting is a mining town in the northeast of England in the 1980s. Billy Elliot, a young boy born into a family where both his father and older brother were coal miners, envisioned his future becoming a similar adult. Her mother has already passed away, and her grandmother is the only one at home during the day who needs to be taken care of. In this everyday life, Billy comes to a turning point in his life. I was captivated by the sight of a ballet class and my curiosity was ignited. My passion for ballet continues to grow. The passion of “I want to dance!” While the coal mining town is shaken by a strike, his faith eventually decides his destiny and moves the hearts of the adults around him.

Although the production cost was around $5 million, the film grossed over $100 million at the worldwide box office. If you consider subsequent DVD sales, TV broadcast rights, musical adaptations, etc., the sales will be even more huge. Just as “Dancing Boy” ran up the ladder of dreams, this small British film was also engulfed in overwhelming praise upon its release, and has been around for 10 years. It has come to be recognized as a masterpiece, with only one in existence.

This is by no means a true story. It all started with an inspiration that came to screenwriter Lee Hall. He was originally devising a story set in his hometown, when suddenly a strong image of ``a boy in a ballet tutu running down a back street'' appeared in his mind. He immediately thought, ``This is interesting!'' and began painting.

Perhaps because it started with such an idea, the visuals of this work are all extremely catchy. While the girls are wearing ballet tutus, Billy is the only one practicing in a T-shirt and shorts, creating a cute contrast. At first, he is a little confused by his attraction to ballet, but before he knows it, the boy's passion sparks even more as he sings famous songs by British bands such as T-Rex, The Jam, and The Clash. It is.
