Reversal of “observer” and “observed”
Since the film is told from Francesca's point of view, Eastwood, also known as Kincaid, is portrayed as a constant object of observation. ...Well, to be exact, there are quite a few scenes that aren't from Francesca's perspective.
Francesca was spied on through a gap in the Roseman Bridge tunnel, and watched as she washed in the garden (which only fueled Francesca's libido!). Since Kincaid is set up as a cameraman, he is supposed to be in the position of "observing", but in this film, "observer" and "observed" are reversed.
If we were to talk about ``The Bridges of Madison County'' from a more meta perspective, Eastwood, the director, would be the ``observer'' of the entire movie, and the lead actress, Francesca, aka Meryl Streep, would be the ``observer.'' In other words, in this movie, the ``observer'' (= movie director) who is in charge of the entire work is given the role of ``observer'' (= cameraman) in the movie, but in reality he is the ``observer'' (= cameraman). It has a complicated structure in which it functions as a "person who is being treated".

Clint Eastwood has always been an unknown Jack Reacher and an elusive cowboy. We borrow Francesca's perspective and try to find out who he really is, but the moment his hand touches his body, his image disappears like smoke and he hides somewhere in the world. It's like the wanderer in `` Stranger in the Wilderness '' (73) or the mysterious pastor in `` Pale Rider '' (85).
