Kevin Costner and <Western>

The story is set in the American West in the 1860s. John Dunbar (Kevin Costner), who became a hero despite being injured during the Civil War, wishes to be posted to a frontier outpost, saying, ``I want to see the vanishing frontier.'' While living a self-sufficient life in the wilderness as far as the eye can see, they eventually begin to interact with the neighboring Sioux tribe. There are other reasons why ``Dances with Wolves,'' which transformed the Western genre by depicting the end of Western development, the last West, was not the work that was desired.

As some of you may have already noticed, `` Silverado '' is one of Kevin Costner's breakthrough films. In other words, Kevin Costner was an important figure who was involved in the revival of the Western genre in the 1980s and transformed it in the 1990s. However, this was a time when the declining Western genre was no longer accepted by audiences. A story that criticizes white people from a Native American perspective, a running time of three hours, a huge production cost of $22 million using personal funds, a production with English subtitles in the indigenous language, and an actor with no directing experience directed. ``Dances with Wolves'' was a work full of negative elements at the box office, such as the fact that he also served as a producer.

`` Heaven's Gate '' (1980), directed by Michael Cimino, is a transformative work set in Wyoming in the 1890s that rejects the Western genre. The film was criticized as a ``cinematic disaster'', as it over-budgeted and forced the film company United Artists into financial crisis. ``Dances with Wolves'', which was rumored to have huge production costs, a running time of more than 3 hours, and production delays, is currently being filmed as a play on ``HEAVEN'S GATE'', the original title of ``Heaven's Gate''. It was nicknamed ``KEVIN'S GATE'' and everyone thought it would fail; it was not the ``work that people wanted''.
