Hong Kong All Star cast and staff

In order to restore the soul and passion of Hong Kong cinema, what was most needed was an all-star cast. Tony and Andy, who are in a relationship between seniors and juniors at a TV station's actor training school, and who have appeared together for the first time in about 10 years since " Infernal Days " (1991), Anthony Wong, Eric Tsang, etc. A collaboration between the "four great film emperors" who have won the Best Actor award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, also known as the "Hong Kong Academy Awards."

Furthermore, Sammy Chen and Kelly Cheung, who are top musicians who are also active as actresses, co-star as female characters who watch over them. What's more, they were able to cast Elva Hsiao, a Taiwanese songstress who was rapidly gaining popularity in Hong Kong at the time, to play the role of Yang's ex-lover for just one scene. (By the way, the jacket of the US version of the DVD is an image collage of her holding a gun.)

The staff working on this star-studded cast also includes top-notch talent, including director Andrew Lau, who gained attention for filming Wong Kar-wai's `` The Chungking Express '' (1994). Director Lau has successfully adapted popular comics into films in the past, such as the `` City of Desires '' series (1995-2000) and ``Storm Riders'' (1998), which also starred Shinichi Chiba. He was known for his skill in portraying characters.

Additionally, cameraman Christopher Doyle, known as ``Wong Kar-wai's eye,'' was appointed as visual effects consultant. Since the story is quite complex, the tone is based on yellow-green for the black society side, and blue for the police side, in order to avoid confusing the audience.

It is also worth noting that Dion Lam, known for his role as a dragon in the popular Japanese drama ``The Hangman,'' has been invited to teach martial arts. As Yuen Woo-ping's favorite disciple, he also participated in the action instruction in the `` matrix '' series (1999-2003), and in the movie he played the role of Del Piero, a bearded villain. Even after this work, he became a sought-after presence in Hollywood, being invited to work on `` Spider-Man 2 '' (2004), `` DOOM '' (2005), `` LOOPER '' (2012), etc. He is also on the front cover of the US Blu-ray version of this film).

Furthermore, a large-scale audition was held for new actors to play the childhood roles of the two main characters (in the end, Edison Chan and Sean Yu, who already had careers, were selected). In addition, thorough promotional activities were carried out, including a duet of the theme song by Tony and Andy, with information being released over a year before the film's release until just before its release. After much fanfare, Infernal Affairs was released during the Christmas season as the biggest blockbuster of 2002.
