Seven gunslingers cast at a rapid pace

Casting work progresses at a rapid pace. Yul Brynner was a huge influence here as well.

Steve McQueen plays the role of sub-leader Vin, for whom George Peppard and Gene Wilder were also considered. At the time, he was appearing in the TV drama `` Higan Mujuku '' (58-61), which was broadcast on CBS, and was completely out of the schedule. So he deliberately crashes his car and takes part in the filming of ``The Magnificent Seven'' while on ``sick leave.'' He successfully got the role of Vin.

Horst Buchholz plays the role of the energetic and youngest Chico. He himself is a German from Berlin, and since then he has appeared in many foreign films as an international actor. He also co-starred with our own Shinichi Chiba in `` Aces / Oath of the Sky '' (1992). Robert Vaughn plays the cool bounty hunter Lee. He is a unique person who gained popularity with ``0011 Napoleon Solo'' (64-68). He made a surprise appearance as Judge Travis in the TV drama version of ``The Magnificent Seven'' (1998).

Brad Dexter plays the role of Harry, who is obsessed with valuable things. He was a friend of Frank Sinatra (he also appeared in Sinatra's films ``Only the Brave'' (1965) and `` Escape from the Express '' (1965)), and through his intercession, he was introduced to John Sturges. Did you get the role? Charles Bronson, who has yet to break out, plays the child-friendly role of O'Reilly. After this, he appeared in blockbuster and popular works such as `` The Great Escape '' (1963), ` `Farewell to My Friends '' (1968), and `` Wolf's Elegy '' (1970), and quickly climbed the ladder to becoming a big star.

The role of Bullitt, an expert knife thrower, was a difficult one until the end. The role was originally scheduled to be played by Sterling Haydon, who played the role of a criminal with great dignity in `` The Asphalt Jungle '' (50) and `` PUT YOUR BODY IN CASH '' (56), but for some reason he withdrew from the role. Cobain, who is a year younger than Haydon, was selected due to Robert Vaughn's recommendation. He was such a big fan of the original version that he had watched ``Seven Samurai'' 15 times, and said that he thoroughly studied the play of Seiji Miyaguchi, who played the role of Kyuzo, and reflected it in his own role. In later years, he made the following comment in an interview.

"I only had 11 lines. That's all. (Omitted) But the number of lines is not important. It's how you act, what kind of performance you show. In my case, the original I learned most of it from the role of Ban (Seiji Miyaguchi). He doesn't have to say anything.'' (quoted from an interview with James Coburn )

The seven gunmen have finally assembled. However, once filming began, more challenges awaited them. The relationship between Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen deteriorated over control of the film.
