“The Hangover!” depicts the pitfalls of “a city of safety and security.” ”

“Hangover! '', four bad friends travel from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party. It takes just five hours to drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, but it is a perfect ``city of pleasure'' where you can forget about reality for a moment. If it was further away, it wouldn't be enough for a short trip, but if it was closer, not only would you not be isolated from your daily life, but you would also be able to enjoy ``The Hangover!'' ” even at the very end of the time limit, no longer holds true. The climax, "3 and a half hours left until the wedding!" is underpinned by a realistic sense of distance.

Also “Hangover! ” was actually filmed at major locations in Las Vegas. The four bad friends Phil and his friends stay at the aforementioned Caesar's Palace. The Palms Hotel, where a drunken Britney Spears married her childhood friend (and promptly filed for an annulment), is the hotel frequented by party celebrities. The chapel where Stu, a dentist, got married to Jade, a stripper he had just met, was built in a neighborhood lined with chapels that are famous for Las Vegas and where weddings can be held easily.

There are many similar patterns, such as director Doug Liman's ``Go'' (1999), in which a movie goes to Vegas to get rid of a hook. In both films, the Las Vegas the men drive into is no longer the vicious city it once was, where the mafia roams. What is important is that Las Vegas is a clean place where illegal entertainment such as gambling and stripping is carried out under strict legal frameworks. In other words, ``The Hangover! Ordinary people like Phil and his friends come to Vegas to drink, make noise, and have fun, assuming that it's a safe city.

A famous line from Muco Doug's father, who goes missing, is ``What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.'' In fact, this is a promotional slogan used by the Las Vegas Tourism Bureau since 2003, and it means that in Vegas, you should take the plunge and get back to your normal life. However, as mentioned above, the current Las Vegas market is (ostensibly) focused on safety, and it is actually not bad. If you try to get carried away in such a town, you will be thrown into an unusual commotion that would be impossible by common sense. The movie ``The Hangover! ' is interesting as a fiction.
