"Inferno" synopsis

Production on the phantom film ``Inferno'' began in 1964 by Henri-Georges Clouzot, the master director of ``Manon the Lover'' and ``The Wages of Fear,'' but the director fell ill and it was left unfinished. This documentary, which is made up of the remaining footage and testimonies of those involved, caused a great response at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. The delusions of a husband who suspects his wife is cheating on him are expressed in dazzling visual beauty, with fragmentary but powerful glimpses of images such as the scene where Romy lies naked on the railroad tracks. Romy, who has a unique make-up and a rich expression, is simply overwhelming, but there are also many innocent off-shots included.

There's no end to Inferno

"SANS FIN" (without end). Claude Chabrol's ``Inferno'' (1994), a remake of Henri-Georges Clouzot's unfinished ` `Inferno '' (1964), ends the film with the credits ``Without End'' (Japanese subtitles say ``Hateshi''). (translated as "without"). There is no end to Inferno.

Serge Blomberg and Luxandra Medrea created the documentary Inferno(2009), which explores the truth behind Clouzot's unfinished work, based on the vast amount of film fragments he left behind and the testimonies of those involved. However, what sets this film apart from many behind-the-scenes documentaries is that the aesthetic aspect of the remaining film far outweighs the legendary episodes. An endless stream of images. Fashionable Romy Schneider wears an avant-garde image. Clouzot, who had ample funding from American capital, continued to shoot test shots for six months. A studio that transforms into an experimental workshop.

As evidenced by the staff at the time for this film, Clouzot was originally the type of filmmaker who made detailed plans and proceeded with filming in an orderly manner. ``Inferno'' can be described as a work in which a person stands still in front of the Monster he is trying to create, and is struck by its enormous size. The staff, including Clouzot, are at a loss when faced with the Monster imagination they have created. Shooting with change after change. The staff and cast are becoming increasingly fatigued by the uncertain process. The lead actor, Serge Regiani, was at the limit of his patience and abruptly quit his role. Clouzot's own heart attack ultimately led to the project's demise.

The shoot goes out of control and opens up a never-ending Inferno, as the main character Marcel (Serge Regigni) has visions of his wife Odette (Romy Schneider) cheating on him. In Chabrol's `` The Inferno of Love ,'' the main character, possessed by delusions, finally goes insane at a screening of a private film. The madness caused by those who can no longer hold onto the image seems to represent the catastrophe of the work ``Inferno'' itself. This film chronicles Clouzot's reckless endeavors to open up new cinematic horizons.
