A duet of endings and beginnings

Sandra (Léa Seydoux) has a busy life. She takes care of her father, Georg (Pascal Gregory), who suffers from Benson syndrome. As a single mother, she takes care of her young daughter, Rin. Romance with Clément (Melville Poupaud), whom she meets by chance. Sandra's life is depicted in a matter-of-fact manner with Mia Hansen-Love's naturalistic touch, but her real life is actually the opposite of that matter-of-fact depiction. Sandra has multiple roles in her daily life. Sandra is a wounded daughter, a mother who cares for her children, and is shaken by romance. Sandra's "multiple faces" change according to the situation at an almost unconscious speed. And there is nothing contradictory about all the roles. Just like in our lives.

Sandra is an honest mother. She doesn't hide anything from her daughter Rin. She doesn't hide Georg's decline or his romance with Clement, and gives her honest impressions about the movie they watched together, saying, ``It wasn't good.'' Rin is understandably annoyed when her favorite movie is gently rejected. However, Sandra's honesty in this work seems like a great "education". The reason Sandra doesn't carelessly conform to others is because she truly loves Lynn. When Rin becomes an adult in the future, she will remember the various scenery she is currently experiencing. At the center of this must be her mother, who was always honest with the people she cared about.

“One Fine Morning.”

"Don't invite pity; if people pity you, it's over."

Sandra and Lynn listen silently to their grandmother's story. My grandmother, who is disabled, is confined to a wheelchair. My grandmother tells me to refuse to accept pity. However, deep in Sandra's eyes as she listens to her grandmother's story, there is a feeling of pity, helplessness, and hesitation, all of which ooze out. At this moment, Rin becomes an observer of the whole story.

Watching your parents decline is one of the most painful things in life. In ``One Fine Morning'' (original title ``Un Beau Matin'' literally translated as ``One Sunny Morning''), the ending and beginning are depicted as a duet. Memories that lose clarity with each passing moment. The figure of a father heading towards the disappearance of his body. The future of our children. Birth and extinction. And Mia Hansen = "family reorganization" which can be said to be a love theme. Mia Hansen-Love is contradictory, just as the title credit "l'avenir" (=future) of " Hello, Future" (16), which can be said to be a sister edition of this work, is carved against the background of a tombstone facing the sea. The topic will be depicted as a “duet of life.”
