Synopsis
1918, Texas. Pearl, who admires the glamorous stars dancing on the screen, lives on a remote farm with her pious and strict mother and sick father. Her husband, who she married young, is off to war, and while she is tired of having to take care of her father and feed the livestock, Pearl finds momentary happiness in imitating a musical show for the farm animals. was. One day, Pearl goes into town to buy medicine for her father and watches a movie without telling her mother. There, she meets a projectionist, and her longing for the outside world grows even more. Meanwhile, in town, Pearl hears that there will be an audition for a show that will be touring the countryside, and she strongly desires to participate in the audition, but her mother scolds her, saying, ``You'll never be able to leave the farm.''
