Similarities to “Taxi Driver”

As mentioned above, `` Bringing Out the Dead '' had many similarities with ` `Taxi Driver '' at the time of the original work, but Scorsese himself incorporated plenty of `` Taxi Driver '' elements in adapting this work into a movie. This is clear from the way both films begin with a shot of the exterior of a car and a light shining into the eyes of the main character. The effects used in " Taxi Driver " are also used extensively in this film, such as shots that capture the exterior of a car from behind, shots that show the city and people through the car window (in which the main character's narration is inserted), and Scorsese himself The similarities include the fact that Frank makes a cameo appearance (voice only in "Bringing Out the Dead"), and the office where main character Frank's boss is located is very similar to the office of the taxi company where Travis works. There's no time left. It's like it's self-remaking.

"Taxi Driver" preview

Of course, the resemblance is not the only thing; it also incorporates a lot of the production that has been cultivated over the 20 years since `` Taxi Driver ,'' and it echoes the feelings of the Bringing Out the Dead who are on a runner's high. The lights were so bright that it was hard to believe it was nighttime, and the camera was moving around busily. The music continues to play, and the up-tempo editing shows off the music. This approach can be called the extreme north of Scorsese's work in the 1990s, an even more extreme evolution of the direction he established with `` Casino '' after `` Goodfellas .'' Scorsese is retelling `` Taxi Driver '' using the directing method he established throughout the 1990s.

And when we talk about the similarities between this film and `` Taxi Driver, '' there is one man we cannot forget. This is Paul Schrader, who also wrote the screenplay for `` Taxi Driver .'' While ``The Bringing Out the Dead'' is Scorsese's film, it is also intensely screenwriter Paul Schrader's film.
