The Day After
review
Synopsis
Ah-reum (Kim Min-hee) is introduced by a university professor to work at Book Publishing Kang, a small publishing company whose president is Bong-wan (Kwon Hae-hyo), who is also a famous critic. Bong-wan's wife suspects him of cheating because he wakes up at 4:30 every morning to go to work and doesn't return until late at night. Ah-reum starts working at the publishing company he runs for the first time. Bong-wan welcomes Ah-reum warmly and immediately goes to a nearby Chinese restaurant for lunch. Ah-reum is confused by Bong-wan, who tries to close the distance all at once, trying to stop using formal honorifics.
On the same afternoon, Ah-reum was suddenly punched by a woman who barged into his office. Bong-wan's wife (Cho Yoon-hee) finds evidence of his affair and mistakes Ah-reum for her husband's mistress. My wife doesn't believe me when I explain that today is my first day at work. Cornered, Bong-wan replies that the person she had an affair with has gone abroad and doesn't know his whereabouts.
