“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” synopsis

Signs of a major volcanic eruption have been detected on Isla Nublar, the island where the theme park Jurassic World collapsed after a deadly battle between the hybrid dinosaurs Indominus Rex and T-Rex. In the midst of an approaching crisis, humanity is forced to make the ultimate choice: leave the dinosaurs' lives to nature, or risk their own lives to save them. Meanwhile, dinosaur behavior expert Owen (Chris Pratt) and theme park manager Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) decide to take action to save the dinosaurs and head to the island. Just then, the volcano erupts, and the ultimate survival adventure begins!

It is also the history of the conflict between animatronics and CG.

Exactly a quarter of a century ago, in 1993, `` Jurassic Park '' brought about major changes in the movie industry. Director Steven Spielberg, who has created various ``encounters with the unknown'' such as giant sharks and extraterrestrial life forms, decided to ``utilize CG'' when making this film. The original plan was to use traditional special effects to depict the dinosaurs, but the ILM team's CG prototypes were of such high quality that they suddenly gave the go-ahead to go this route. The result is a monumental piece of entertainment in which computer-generated dinosaurs dominate the screen with their astonishing textures.

Additionally, a method called ``animatronics,'' which makes full use of robotics, was often used. This is different from CG, and has a great effect in bringing sensual reality. In this way, while the special effects that had been the mainstream until now are becoming increasingly outdated, the "Jurassic" series, which has been going on since 1993, can be seen as a history of the conflict between the two major technologies, CG and animatronics. You could also do that.

However, the development of CG technology suddenly engulfed the movie industry, and the world began to believe that anything could be drawn with CG. Along with this, the proportion of CG will suddenly increase in the flow from `` Jurassic Park III '' to `` Jurassic World .'' Many people must have thought that if things continued like this, animatronics would become obsolete and eventually be pushed out of the ring.

However, as if to drive a wedge into that view, ``Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'' shows a surprising change in the battle between these technologies. Of course, the use of CG is still large, but in the previous film, ``Jurassic World,'' only one animatronic was used, but this time, five animatronics were introduced and played a major role. What circumstances are hidden behind this rapid change?
