His talent for fusing video and sound has created numerous masterpieces.

Thus, Alan Parker, who had taken his first steps as a director while still working as a scriptwriter, quit his job as a copywriter after "Melody" and tried to pursue a career in film, but due to his limited career, he was not given Being There for a while and made a living by directing commercials. Then, in 1976, Parker finally made his directorial debut as a feature film with " Downtown Story ." The executive producer was his good friend David Puttnam. This unusual musical film, with an all-child cast including Jodie Foster, who was 14 years old at the time, was well-received, and his second film as a director, "Midnight Express" (also produced by Puttnam), was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Director, and won two of them. This marked his entry into the ranks of the world's top directors.

Looking back at Alan Parker's career, we notice that his experience with "Melody" has been utilized at key moments. Parker is also good at social issues and human dramas, but his speciality as a master of "images + music" stands out above all else. His direction is brilliant in works where music is a key point, such as the street and diner dance scenes in " Fame ," which is set at an art school in New York, and the excitement of the live performance scene in " The Commitments ," which depicts the formation of a band. The same goes for the musical " Evita ," where the scene in which the main character Eva is on the train to Happy Together creates an unusual sense of elation that is unique to Alan Parker.

An unknown masterpiece is " Pink Floyd The Wall ," an ambitious production like a super long version of MTV that unfolds almost without dialogue while setting the songs of famous albums. The video also uses animation and has shocking production, giving it a cult taste, but it is full of Alan Parker's extraordinary talent for "music + video," and it is possible to trace its origins back to "Melody."
