The characters also believe in the power of movies.

The concept of a ``cinema'' has changed, and now even in Japan, the box office format, which is almost monopolized by multiplexes, is able to meet the needs of the audience by allowing you to reserve your favorite seats in advance, and by freely increasing the number of screens for popular movies. It became easier to respond. Etiquette during screenings is also pervasive. On the other hand, there are an increasing number of cases in which they are purposely providing situations in which they are allowed to make their voices heard, such as through ``cheering screenings''. However, the feeling of ``enjoying movies together'' has gone in a different direction, such as when people burst out laughing at funny scenes, causing annoyance to the people next to them.

Movie theaters used to be a place of freedom, where you waited in line to see if you could get a seat, watched the movie even if you had to stand, and then moved to the next available seat and watched the movie a second time.

`` Cinema Paradiso '' is a work filled with depictions that allow movie fans to relive these nostalgic scenes. It's not just nostalgia. Not only does it make you feel sentimental, ``Movie theaters were great back then,'' but the theme of ``Believing in the power of movies'' runs throughout the film, and that's what makes movie fans' hearts swell.

Of course there are many episodes of the main character, Toto, who becomes fascinated by the charm of movies as a child, but there is also an unforgettable scene that shows the power of movies. Toto, who became a young man and became a projectionist at Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, experienced First Love. Toto, who has been separated from his love interest Elena over the summer and is desperate to see her, utters these lines between outdoor screenings.

when does summer end

It's easy for movies

Dissolve and thunderstorm

Summer passes quickly

Immediately after that, a sudden rain drenches Toto's face as he lies down, and thunder echoes. Then, Elena appeared in front of him and they exchanged a passionate kiss. If you think about it calmly, this development may be a bit easy. However, in terms of the overall theme of ``Cinema Paradiso'', it can be said that it is a splendid scene in which the ``direction of the movie'' and ``the reality within the movie'' are synchronized. When the characters believe in the power of movies, their dreams become reality. The essence of film, which is ``making dreams come true,'' has been cleverly incorporated into the work.

By the way, a dissolve is when the previous screen disappears and is replaced by the next screen. This thunderstorm scene in ``Cinema Paradiso'' does not use dissolve itself.
