A Star Is Born is Bradley Cooper's first directorial film. What he was particular about was thoroughly and realistically recreating the world of the musicians who became the "stars" mentioned in the title. For example, it is an expression of the euphoria felt by the performer during a live performance in front of a large audience. To that end, director Cooper makes extensive use of footage from the musician's perspective. He originally developed the idea for this work from his memory of attending a Metallica concert in 2012. Cooper watched from behind the drums, and the view from there became the inspiration for this directorial work. In ``A Star Is Born,'' Cooper was obsessed with making sure that the images of the large crowd captured from the stage were ``real'' and not CG.

The most iconic scene is the opening live scene of Jackson Maine, played by Cooper himself. The stage performance that instantly captured the hearts of movie audiences was filmed at the 2016 Stagecoach Music Festival. Cooper took a short break between appearances by Jamey Johnson and Willie Nelson to perform a song in front of an audience of 80,000 people. The performance was filmed as if it were a live performance, but it was only around the time he finished singing that the audience realized that it was actor Bradley Cooper on stage. The time required to shoot was only 8 minutes. It's exactly like a guerrilla.
