From Colorado to Mexico, where we fostered friendships.

Their interactions continued as the film moved from Colorado to Utah to New Mexico, and peaked when the film moved to Cuernavaca and Taxco, Mexico, where scenes from Bolivia were filmed. All of the water catered for the crew was contaminated, so Newman, Redford, and the lone star, Katharine Ross, all spent their off-season drinking soda and alcohol instead of water, and arrived at the show in the same condition. There was only one.

Now that you mention it, the scenes in Bolivia are certainly apocalyptic, but don't you smell alcohol somewhere? Behind the scenes, Newman is angry because the director, Roy Hill, never pays the expensive alcohol bill. He once cut Hill's work desk in half with a saw.

After cranking it up, Newman reflected: ``I've never had a more fun job than that because Bob (Redford) and I got so drunk together,'' he said.

Third co-starring that never happened

When Newman passed away on September 26, 2008 at the age of 83, Redford paid tribute to him as follows: ``Paul taught me the importance of tolerance even though I was greedy back then.'' He also commented that their relationship was similar to that of Butch and Sundance in the movie. If I had to describe it, I would say that they are a lovable Jack Reacher duo who overcome the difference in experience level with the same values and jokes. This was his third time co-starring with Henry Condorf and Johnny Hooker, the con-artist duo he played in The Sting (1973), and although Newman was approached to star in the role before his death, he was unable to do so due to his health. It was planned that `` The Long Trail! '' would also be followed. This is an adventure drama about two middle-aged men who take on the Appalachian Trail.

"The Sting" preview

In other words, ``Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'' has the greatest meaning beyond the appeal of the movie itself as the encounter between the two men who made Hollywood's turning point so interesting.
