``Blow Out'' Brian De Palma's great and important masterpiece, highly praised by Tarantino
2019.06.13
De Palma's expressions are often criticized
And ``Blow Out'' also shows De Palma's obsession. Voyeurism: Jack's recording of eavesdropping is a variation of voyeurism, and in ``De Palma,'' the boy De Palma reveals that he once secretly filmed his father having an affair. It is a sadistic image of a man who falls into a trap. For this reason, his films have often been criticized for being misogynistic.
``Even if people say that the treatment of women is bad or the depiction of violence is extreme, that's the right way for me to do it.'' ``I express how I see things, and those expressions recur in the movie.'' he explains. Or, he explains, it's because the genres he's dealt with, such as politics, gangsters, and war, are themselves a male-dominated society. It is true that the suspense is created by featuring a woman in a dangerous situation, and the sweet melodrama is further enhanced by the regret of a helpless man who is unable to save the woman he loves.
"As a result of the commotion he caused, the man ends up letting the woman die. Then he uses her screams in a vulgar horror movie. The idea came to him by cutting the soundtrack and adding the sound effects. It's time to bring in Travolta...Hearing the screams used in the movie, his suffering is alleviated.Every time I see Travolta in this scene, it moves me,'' De Palma recalled.
"It's a good scream" - At the same time as he discovers the beautiful scream, Jack finds himself in the purgatory of confession in De Palma's sadistic world. Tarantino declared the film's heartbreaking finale to be ``one of the most moving closing shots in the history of cinema.''
