“Crimson Tide” synopsis

Russian extremists have taken over a nuclear missile base in Siberia and threaten to attack the United States and Japan. The situation is tense again. In response to this situation, the U.S. military urgently dispatches the nuclear submarine Alabama. The captain is Colonel Ramsay. The vice captain is a newly appointed elite, Major Hunter. Just as a message was received from the Pentagon, an enemy torpedo hit the ship and exploded. Communication is cut off midway through, and the vice captain, who prioritizes confirming orders, and the captain, who insists on an immediate attack, are in fierce conflict, and tensions run high on the ship.

Staff gathers under Tony Scott

Directed by Tony Scott, one of America's leading hit makers, known for films such as `` Top Gun '' (1986) and ``True True Romance '' (1993). One of his masterpieces, and one of the most representative submarine films, is `` Crimson Tide '' (1995).

This film also features some of the best songs by Hans Zimmer, one of America's leading film music composers. The exhilarating depiction of the captain, played by Gene Hackman, giving commands to the crew of the U.S. Navy's nuclear-powered submarine "Alabama" while being drenched in the rain while the profound and courageous music plays is especially appealing to those interested in the military. Even for those who don't know what to do, it's a scene that will warm your heart and, in a sense, be frightening.

As a side note, the title of this film, ``Crimson Tide'', which suggests a terrible situation and at the same time expresses the feeling of excitement in the blood, is the nickname of the sports team at the University of Alabama. The name of the captain's dog, ``Bear,'' is said to be derived from the middle name of the famous coach of the university's football team.

In addition, Quentin Tarantino also participated in the excellent script of this film, which was related to ``True Romance,'' and he wrote about comic topics in the conversation scenes that show the connection between superiors and subordinates.
