However, they used sounds and words as weapons to stand up against authority.

a city called compton

Compton is a city in Los Angeles, California with a population of approximately 97,000. There is a sign at the entrance to the town that says ``Welcome,'' but to be honest, I don't want to be welcomed here. This is because gangs such as the Crips and Bloods exist on every block, and crime is rampant.

However, this image was largely planted by the media. It is true that there are many successful people who were born and raised in Compton, but such a positive image is rarely reported. Why do African Americans live in Compton? This has something to do with American history.

African Americans were brought to America as slaves from Africa in 1619 and were primarily used as farm labor in the American South. After that, starting in the 1910s, black people from the South migrated to the northern Midwest, where the automobile industry was developing, such as Detroit and Chicago, and to the West, where large corporations and factories were located, including Los Angeles, in search of work. The Great Migration will become more active.

As a result, the number of African Americans increased in Los Angeles, but they were only able to live in certain areas and cities, and there was discrimination in housing based on race. Originally, there were many Japanese Americans living in Compton, but with the outbreak of World War II, they were placed in Japanese internment camps, and the number of vacant houses increased. To fill this gap, rents became cheaper and the number of African Americans increased.

By distinguishing residences and gathering them in one place, it becomes easier for the regime to control them. By denying them education and facilities, they are unable to find a decent job, are discouraged, and drug use becomes widespread. Gangs kill each other for profit over the drugs. A rap group called NWA , which is the main character of this work, has seen such a situation so much that it can be said that it is disgusting. They came from Compton to use their voices as weapons to tell the story.

NWA was formed by six members: Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren, and Arabian Prince, but Arabian Prince left the band early, so this work 5 people are depicted excluding him. Formed in 1986, NWA has released only four albums, including compilation albums (excluding best-of albums). However, even though more than 25 years have passed since their formation, they left such an impact on society that a movie was made.
