Ryunosuke Kamiki will celebrate his 27th birthday on May 19th.

He has been active in the entertainment industry since he was 2 years old, and is truly a "perfect child of an actor." Since then, he has become famous as a genius child actor and continues to be active on the front lines to this day. In his 25-year career as an actor, he is perhaps the only actor whose popularity has continued to rise, rather than waning.

Kamiki's charm lies not only in his high acting skills, but also in his undiminished transparency, which can be called an ``eternal boy''. Since his early works, his main characteristics have been his mature and stable acting and his youthful demeanor. His mature ``expressiveness'' surpasses those of his age, and his eternally innocent ``appearance'' transcends his actual age. These contradictory "double swords" boast absolute offensive power.

In the first place, the framework of ``having a background as a child actor'' probably does not apply to Kamiki. He has been an ``actor'' since he was 2 years old. As proof of that, if you look at his filmography, you'll see that he has collaborated with many popular directors. Once again, I am amazed at his extraordinary talent.

This time, we will introduce 10 carefully selected products from such a luxurious lineup.

1. “The Great Yokai War” (05) Director: Takashi Miike 124 minutes

A movie starring Kamiki that was released on the 10th anniversary of his career as an entertainer. Produced and starring Shigeru Mizuki, Natsuhiko Kyogoku, Hiroshi Aramata, and Miyuki Miyabe, the film was directed by Takashi Miike, and Renji Ishibashi, Kiyoshiro Imawano, and others played the monsters, making it a truly monster-class movie.

After his parents divorce, a boy is taken from the city to his mother's hometown in rural Tottori Prefecture, where he encounters monsters and awakens as a ``hero'' with special powers. Standing in her way is a demon (Etsushi Toyokawa) who is obsessed with grudges.

It incorporates a lot of the latest technology of the time, and is astounding, with depictions of Tokyo becoming a city of death, mechanical creatures similar to The Terminator, battle scenes flying through the sky, and depictions of a wide variety of monsters such as the Rokurokubi. A spectacle unfolds.

Kamiki brilliantly played the role of a quiet city boy who grows up to be strong while carrying the fate of the world on his shoulders, and won the Japan Academy Award for Best New Actor for this work. Even when surrounded by the cast and staff of Hyakki Yako, Kamiki's outstanding ``actor ability'' can be glimpsed as he does not lose the slightest bit of aura.

2. “Disappeared into the distant sky” (07) Director: Yukisada Isao 144 minutes

Director Yukisada, who caused a social phenomenon with ``Cry for Love at the Center of the World'' (2004), sent a love call to Kamiki, who is in high demand in dramas and movies. Director Yukisada said in an interview at the time, ``I felt it was necessary to film Kamiki while he was still a boy,'' which shows that he was an irreplaceable piece of the story.

A boy (Kamiki) moves from the city to a rural area because of his father's (Tomokazu Miura) work. The boy develops friendships with the children of the village while witnessing skirmishes between his father, who is proceeding with the airport construction plan, and the villagers who oppose it. However, the aftermath of the conflict spreads to boys and girls...

A juvenile fantasy in which the life-sized figure of Sacred Tree shines brightly, with a carefree smile and an unrefined expression. The world view and art, which are a mixture of various cultures such as Japan, the American West, Shanghai and Russia, are distinctive even today. Also pay attention to the talented supporting players such as Fumiyo Kohinata, Tomokazu Miura, Shinobu Otake, Chang Chen, Tetsuji Tanaka, and Renji Ishibashi.

In ``Little DJ'' (2007), which he appeared in around the same time, he played the role of a young boy trying to live his life despite being affected by illness. After that, from 2010, he took on the challenge of playing a dark character in the series ``SPEC ~ Metropolitan Police Department Public Security Department 5th Public Security Division Unexplained Incident Special Measures Section Case Files ~'', which continued with dramas and movies, and broke new ground. Kamiki's life as an actor is entering a new phase.
