The cast also made a big leap after this film. Jesse Eisenberg, who gained attention for his work in the excellent film The Squid and the Whale (2005), was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in The Social Network after this film. He appeared in many Big films, such as Now You See Me (2013-2016) and Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice (2016), as well as many films directed by Woody Allen. Woody Harrelson, who was highly praised for his acting in films such as Natural Born Killers (1994) and Larry Flint (1996), was nominated for an Oscar for his roles in The Messenger (2009) and Three Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Missouri (2017). His roles in War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) are still fresh in our memory.

As mentioned above, the cast members acted in a very relaxed manner in this film. Furthermore, Bill Murray appeared as himself, and the group played Ghostbusters , which added to the fun. As an aside, Harrelson, who played the Twinkie-loving Tallahassee, is a vegan (a person who does not eat animal products), and apparently he made special orders for Twinkies that did not contain eggs or butter. This kind of vibe was able to create an open and entertaining atmosphere without being just for the group's own enjoyment, which is probably due to the powerful cast. His subsequent success may have been inevitable.

However, there was a good chance that the cast and director would be different. Jamie Bell was considered for the main character Columbus, and Evan Rachel Wood and Megan Fox were considered for the role of Wichita. Zombieland was originally planned as a TV drama and was supposed to be directed by John Carpenter, director of Halloween (1978). However, when it moved to a feature film, Carpenter left. Fleischer won the Being There and made his directorial debut.
