Dan O'Bannon and "Alien" and their subsequent relationship
Ridley Scott's other masterpiece, `` Blade Runner '' (1982), was also heavily adapted from Philip K. Dick's novel `` Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? '' by Hampton Fancher, who was a new screenwriter. It is based on an almost original script that he wrote. Ridley also asked Fancher to write the script for his first sequel in 35 years, Blade Runner 2049 (2017), giving Fancher the opportunity to depict what would happen to the world he had created.
On the other hand, Dan O'Bannon continued to work as a screenwriter for science fiction, horror, and action films even after ``Alien,'' and in 1985 made his long-awaited directorial debut with the Dawn of the Dead horror `` The Return of the Living Dead .'' However, he did not participate in the series after ``Alien 2'' (1986), and died in 2009 at the age of 63.
If O'Bannon were still alive, how would he have watched Ridley Scott's `` Prometheus '' and `` Alien: Covenant, '' which have now returned to the series? O'Bannon may have looked up at the big Hollywood billboard with mixed feelings as he saw the origin of the ``Alien '' he created depicted. Or did you say, "This is it!" when you saw " Alien : Covenant," a throwback to the solid action-thriller elements of " Alien ." It's a wish that won't come true, but I'd like to hear O'Bannon's own answer.
