"Blade Runner Final Cut"

``Blade Runner'', which still enjoys tremendous support for its spectacular visuals, vivid action, and prophetic content, is now a true masterpiece by director Ridley Scott, who added unreleased scenes and special effects scenes. Revived as the final cut. Harrison Ford's strong performance establishes and brings to life the character of Rick Deckard, a 21st century special agent who combines the contradictory aspects of toughness and vulnerability. Set in the near future, where despite advances in technology, there is a hint of decadence everywhere, Deckard chases down a ferocious replicant who has escaped. -Unbeknownst to him, his encounter with a mysterious woman will drastically change his destiny.

Best project comparable to “2001: A Space Odyssey” IMAX screening

The futuristic sci-fi movie ``Blade Runner'', which has continued to generate fans since its release in 1982 and continues to enjoy a cult following, will be screened at the IMAX Digital Theater, which boasts a super large screen. This work is set in 2019 and depicts the battle between replicants (artificial humans) who run away in search of their memories and the Blade Runner special investigation team that pursues them. Re-releasing the movie at a time when the real world has reached its age is a clever and clever project. Above all, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans to experience the film in its ultimate screening style.

This "Blade Runner" IMAX Experience version (hereinafter referred to as the IMAX version) will be available for one night only in some areas of the United States in conjunction with the release of the sequel " Blade Runner 2049 " (17: directed by Denis Villeneuve). It has a track record of being screened (this domestic release was with Japanese subtitles added to this DCP). The screening will be based on the ``Final Cut'' released in 2007.

“Blade Runner Final Cut” preview

The purpose of this article is not to explain the ``differences in versions'', which can be said to be the biggest feature of ``Blade Blade Runner,'' so I will only give a brief overview. This is a more accurate version of the ``Director's Cut/Final Version'' (1992), which brings it closer to Ridley Scott's intentions. Inconsistencies caused by mistakes in filming and editing were corrected, some special effects shots were changed and revised, and unreleased scenes were inserted digitally.

For these tasks, we scanned the original negatives of the main feature parts shot on 35mm film in 4K, and the original negatives of the special effects parts shot on 65mm film in 8K. Ultimately, the latter 8K elements were converted to 4K, and this 4K digital data became the original format of the "final cut version." This IMAX version has been converted to the same format through special processing called IMAX DMR.

Of course, in the filming of ``Blade Runner,'' high-resolution 65m film was also used, so we held a commemorative screening of ` `2001: A Space Odyssey '' (68) last year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its production at the IMAX digital theater. I can't help but mention it as a target. However, in the case of ``Blade Runner'', the purpose of using 65mm was to reduce the deterioration of image quality due to optical compositing, which was the main purpose of ``2001: A Space Odyssey'', which was also intended to be shown on a huge curved screen called Super Cinerama. different.

However, both share the value of creating outstanding futuristic images using the same high-definition shooting format. Therefore, there is no need to abstain from viewing it. Let's go to the theater!
