Outtakes from "Purple Rain"

When Vanity was originally scheduled to participate, the script included a love scene between Prince and Vanity in a cabin during a storm. However, when Vanity left the film, it was scrapped. But Prince preserved it in a song called "Raspberry Beret." This is the first measure that starts with "The rain sounds so cool."

The album also ends with the words ``May U Live 2 see the dawn,'' which uses Prince's typical homonyms (U→You, etc.). It is said that he was considering a sequel titled ``The Dawn,'' and some fans say that Prince's later work ` `Prince: Graffiti Bridge '' (1990) is the sequel.

Additionally, Prince later wrote a song that alludes to The Dawn, called ``Welcome 2 the Dawn.'' Although we don't know the truth, we can feel Prince's wish for everyone's happiness, hoping that even though things may be difficult, they will eventually see the dawn.

A unique autobiographical film

This film is often introduced as an autobiographical film. That's certainly not a mistake. However, this is not an orthodox depiction of Prince's life. In fact, regarding his relationship with his father portrayed in this film, Prince said, ``That was a story written by the director. My father doesn't drink or curse. (Looking at his father nearby) "He's cool. He doesn't look like he's 69 years old (at the time of the interview), right? He has a lot of girlfriends," he said, emphasizing that this is not the case in reality.

An autobiographical film about an orthodox musician, it tells the story of how he started playing music in his hometown, his struggles leading up to his debut, and the roller coaster he rides from his debut until he reaches the height of his popularity. It is often talked about with great thrill. However, this work is different from those. That's why Prince is called a genius.

This work depicts Prince's journey as a musician, and at the climax, he plays the famous song "Purple Rain" that he completed on stage. If you write it out like this, you might think it's normal. But it's completely different. The dialogue and soundtrack are reversed from other works. Soundtracks usually set the mood to support the story. However, in this work, the soundtrack plays an important role in telling the story.

For example, at the end of the film, Kid sings "Die for You," and it is clear that the words are taken from Kid's father's line. The songs are completely part of the story and serve as dialogue. Kid sings the lyrics because he finally understands his father's feelings. Only some performers can make the songs tell the story in a movie. Among them, Prince was the most talkative in telling the story. I don't think a better Prince autobiography movie could ever be made.

Prince sadly passed away in 2016, but I believe this film is the reason there has never been any talk of an autobiographical film about the superstar. Prince starred in the film himself and made this film at the peak of his career. Autobiographical films are usually made after someone's death or later in life.

No one can play Prince more perfectly than Prince. No matter how well trained an actor is, it is difficult to perfectly portray the role of a unique prince. Prince was a genius who created and protected his own image through movies. In other words, this is the perfect autobiographical film about Prince.
