Works that have become immortal
This is the perfect Prince autobiography, but that doesn't mean it's a perfect movie. Prince won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and Arrangement for this film, but at the infamous Raspberry Awards given to the worst movies, Apollonia Kotero won Worst Newcomer, and Prince himself wrote the song for Apollonia. The song ``Sex Shooter'' was nominated for Worst Theme Song Award. Still, no matter what anyone says, this was a perfect autobiographical film about Prince.

In writing this article, I thoroughly watched this film from beginning to end for the first time since Prince's death. I couldn't stop crying from the scene where Prince sang "Purple Rain" on stage. Since there were many real musicians in the cast, there may have been some inexperienced line delivery and unfamiliar direction that befits a young director. But that scene from "Purple Rain" still moves me no matter how many times I watch it. This is because the process leading up to singing “Purple Rain” is perfect.
When Prince passed away, a passionate fan said, ``Prince is immortal.'' This may be a clichéd comment from an enthusiastic fan, but that peak period has been preserved in such perfect form on film, and even years later, like the author, I am still moved to tears as I watch it. There are also humans.
This is a work that will last forever. In fact, it was inducted into the U.S. National Film Registry in 2019. This means that the American Film Preservation Committee has recognized it as a work that should be preserved semi-permanently. What's more, the soundtrack of this work was also registered in the United States National Recording Registry. After all, Prince was immortal.
