Bruce Willis saves the day

Several years The Day After, when the project was restarted due to the success of `` Léon: The Professional ,'' casting remained a challenge. Mel Gibson, Kevin Costner, and other big-time stars of the 1990s were unable to get the role, so they were considering shifting their focus from top actors to rising stars to cut production costs. However, at this moment, an unexpected man comes into Besson's pocket. That was Bruce Willis.

Willis had previously exchanged greetings with Besson and Demi Moore when they were having dinner, but by chance Willis received a call from Besson at the office where Besson was having a meeting with the president of a movie company. When we exchanged just a few words, ``Hello, it's been a while,'' she said, ``Why are you there?'' ``Well, I'm having a meeting about a new work.'' ``You're being boring, aren't you? They don't even talk to me at all.'' Is that what you mean?”

Apparently, during this period, Willis was looking to break away from his past Die Hard roles and explore the possibility of collaborating with a director with a unique sensibility. (Works from the same period include `` Pulp Fiction '' (1994) and `` Twelve Monkeys '' (1995)). In any case, the pay would depend on negotiation, so I was asked to read the script first, and the conversation progressed at a rapid pace. For Besson, it was a fateful moment when he broke through a huge wall. With such a big star deciding to appear in the film, the film was finally given the go-ahead.
