"Panic Room" synopsis

Luxury residential area in Manhattan, New York. Meg, who has recently divorced, takes her daughter Sarah to see a new place. The townhouse we were shown to was a four-story building with an elevator. But not only that, there was also a secret room set up. The "Panic Room" was the name of the emergency evacuation space. There's only one door. It is equipped with an automatic locking system with a built-in spring and an infrared sensor. It was created for only one purpose. Never let anyone intrude. The incident occurred on the night that the mother and child's new life began.

Ultra-high-priced scenario bought by Colombia for $4 million

I have always thought about this. Why, in David Fincher's brilliant filmography of `` Seven '' (1995), `` Fight Club '' (99), and `` The Social Network '' (10), only ``Panic Room'' (2002) stands out. Are you being treated coldly? ? Well, it's true that when I first saw it at the movie theater, I thought, ``As a suspense movie, it's not quite as exciting.''

However, after 18 years, I looked at it again and found that it wasn't bad at all! I mean, it's good! Unrestricted camera work, precise spatial processing, and solid suspense production. Everything is first class. It may not be Fincher's masterpiece, but it's definitely one worth reevaluating.

The original script for this film was written by David Koepp, who has worked on megahits such as `` Jurassic Park '' (1993), ` `Mission: Impossible '' (1996), and `` Spider-Man '' (2002). He is one of Hollywood's most popular screenwriters.

One day, he saw an article in the New York Times about ``safe rooms'' and had an epiphany. Cope, who had once been trapped in an elevator, had an idea: ``It might be interesting to write a story about a family being attacked by trespassers and escaping into a safe room!'' and completed the draft in just six days. Columbia Pictures purchased the scenario, which was called ``Panic Room.'' It was a record amount of $4 million.

That scenario came around to David Fincher. After all, we are talking about Fincher, who has worked on films with complicated plots, such as ``Seven'' and ``Fight Club.'' People around him thought that he wouldn't show even the slightest bit of interest in a simple suspense thriller that unfolds behind closed doors...but they were surprised. I felt a spark of creative desire, thinking, "I can do this too! I can tell this story!"

Limited space, limited characters, and only one night is depicted. Fincher was excited to make the film within those limitations. For him, he experienced the harsh experience of filming ``Fight Club'' in as many as 150 locations, ``shooting for a while and then moving immediately'', and decided to film ``Panic Room. ” may have seemed like a fresh topic.
