"Seven" synopsis

Two detectives (Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman) are chasing a smart serial killer with an intelligent mind. The scene that made me decide to take on the role of director

Images with strong shadows, a title background with a strong impact, and a worldview that was described as stylish. ``Seven'' is a work that is often talked about from a visual perspective. That's absolutely true and there's no denying it, but there are other essential elements that make Seven a masterpiece. It's definitely a script. It's a story.

The second half of the movie. After finding the culprit's house and narrowly missing him, the culprit surrendered to the police. Kevin Spacey's overwhelming acting ability as the criminal John Doe creates a strange atmosphere, and even though you feel that the person who turned himself in is definitely the criminal, it's a scene where you can't predict what will happen next. . Detective Somerset, played by Morgan Freeman, muses to himself, ``I'm sure his head will crack open and pop out in a UFO.''

Initially, David Fincher said that after reading a few pages of the script given to him by the film company New Line Cinema, he stopped reading it because he thought it was just a typical detective story. However, he was begged to read it all the way to the end, so he reluctantly continued reading. Fincher says, ``When I read about the part where the culprit turned himself in, I wanted to make this movie.'' ``I thought it was a great script.''

A scene where he surrenders himself inside the police station. John Doe, who entered the station, calls Detective Mills and Detective Somerset, played by Brad Pitt, twice: ``Detective...'' and ``Detective...''. John Doe suddenly yells at the two people who don't notice, "Detective!!!" The tension in the police station quickly rises. Howard Shore's music increases in volume in a way that seems to arouse anxiety, and both the movie itself and the audience watching are plunged into chaos. This is one of the standout scenes in Seven.

Looking at Fincher's comments on the script, it becomes clear how much effort he put into this scene. After the confusion caused by this scene, the movie quickly accelerates toward that hopeless ending.
