What is the determination that Spielberg entrusted to his “father” in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”?
The original James Bond is cast to play the father.
The origins of the Indiana Jones series date back to Hawaii in 1977. At the time, Spielberg had finished filming `` Close Encounters of the Third Kind '' and was enjoying a vacation in Hawaii, when George Lucas, who had just finished making `` Star Wars '' (1977), arrived. At that time, there was a jinx that science fiction movies were not successful, so he fled to Hawaii for fear of failing at the box office.
The two hit it off as they talk about movies, and Spielberg reveals that it has been his long-held dream to create a 007 series. In response, Lucas talked about his idea for an adventure film, a modern take on the serial action films made in the early 20th century. That was the idea behind the Indiana Jones series. Lucas made an official offer to Spielberg to direct the project, and the series began.
Eventually, ` `Raiders of the Lost Ark' ' (1981) and ` `Indiana Jones' ' (1984) were both big hits. Spielberg strongly suggested that Indiana Jones' father appear in the third film, which was intended to be the final chapter in the series, as Indiana Jones had no hint of a family at all. Spielberg wanted the series to be a family story, not just a piece of entertainment.

Since this series was born out of respect for 007, I would like Indy's father to play the role of 007. Spielberg turned to Sean Connery, the first James Bond, and succeeded in getting his approval (Gregory Peck's name was also mentioned as another candidate).
In fact, in this movie, Alison Doody , who plays Elsa Schneider, is from ``007'' (1985), Julian Glover, who plays Walter Donovan, is from ` `007: Your Eyes Only '' (81), and John Salah, who plays Salah. Rhys-Davies is from `` The Living Daylights '' (1987), and other than Sean Connery, the cast is also conscious of the ``007'' series.
The heroine Elsa's tragic death may be a nod to the Bond girls who also meet tragic ends.
