Synopsis

1984, a mining town in northern England. Billy Elliot, an 11-year-old boy, lives with his coal miner father, older brother Tony, and grandmother. Billy's mother died when he was young. . At the time, Britain was in the middle of a coal mining recession, and Tony and his father were on strike. Billy goes to a nearby boxing gym, but he can't get used to boxing. One day, Billy becomes interested in a ballet class being held in the corner of the gym. Billy, who has always loved music, is fascinated by ballet and secretly starts attending classes with the girls. Coach Mrs. Wilkinson discovers Billy's talent for ballet, and under her guidance, Billy improves rapidly. Mrs. Wilkinson recommends that Billy enroll into the Royal Ballet School, and Billy becomes interested and attempts to take the entrance exam without telling his family. .

On the day of the exam, Billy is unable to leave the house due to troubles caused by the strike. In the end, her family finds out about her entrance exam. . My father was furious and banned ballet. Billy pours his uncontrollable anger into his dance. However, on Christmas Day of that year, his father happened to see Billy dancing and noticed his son's amazing talent. In order to earn money to enroll Billy into the Royal Ballet School, he decides to compromise his beliefs and break the strike. Billy's older brother, Tony, desperately tries to stop his strike-breaking father, but his father cries, saying, ``I want to make Billy's dream come true.'' With the help of fellow coal miners who found out about the situation, Billy took the entrance exam for the Royal Ballet School. And passed with flying colors. Time passes and 15 years later, Billy dances ``Swan Lake'' on the stage of a large theater with his father and brother in the audience.
