The movie “The Last Day on Earth” and the novel “God’s Hammer”

When I watched the movie `` The Last Day on Earth '' again, I realized that it was similar to ``Deep Impact.'' First, there is a ``discovery'' made at an observatory, and after various heated discussions over this hopeless prediction, construction begins on a spaceship resembling ``Noah's Ark'' in order to survive the path of destruction. However, only a small number of people can board. A series of very serious developments occur one after another, including a rebellion over the selection results.

In addition to this, the visual effects, which were a hot topic at the time of the film's release, are not distributed throughout the film, but rather accumulate, accumulate, and dominate the film in almost pinpoint places in the second half. I can't help but feel that this structure has something in common with ``Deep Impact.''

In contrast, the novel `` The Hammer of God '' is set in 2109, and the crew of a spaceship is given a mission to change the trajectory of an asteroid to avoid it colliding with Earth.

This means that the ground parts of Deep Impact(especially the construction of shelters for humanity's survival) incorporate the essence of the movie The Last Days on Earth, and the scenes in which the astronauts put their lives on the line. It would make sense to think that the part that handles the mission is infused with the essence of "God's Hammer."

Both were ultimately removed from the original credits for Deep Impact. The reason for this is thought to be that they no longer retain their original form to the point that they can be called original works, but even so, when you compare/read the works, you can definitely feel the lingering influence of these works. If it weren't for these two works, I think that Deep Impact's careful two-stage framework would not have been achieved, and it would have ended up as a flimsy, haphazard panic movie.
