“The Rough Road” = Establishment of Malpaso Productions
Tom Cruise's ``Cruise/Wagner Productions,'' Brad Pitt's ``Plan B Entertainment,'' and Leonardo DiCaprio's ``The Appian Way.'' The film industry is now in an era where Hollywood stars start their own film production companies and produce the movies they appear in.
If you just read the script handed to you by your agent and carefully examine the cast, you won't get the work you want or the role you want. Branding skills to accurately sell oneself, the ability to drive projects to start up, and precise marketing skills are essential skills for future stars.
Actors like Will Smith, Natalie Portman, Drew Barrymore, and Ashton Kutcher are also starting their own production companies in search of the freedom to make films.
The man who built the foundation for this was none other than our great Clint Eastwood. It all dates back to the 1960s, when he was a big star in spaghetti westerns. Just after finishing filming for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), he received an offer to star in McKenna's Gold (1969). It was a flashy western action movie that unfolded around the legendary golden map hidden by the Apache tribe. However, Eastwood was not keen on the project. He was tired of simple action movies where people just fired guns.

What he was more interested in was `` Hang 'em High! '' (1968), a unique work that depicts the death penalty system within the framework of a Western movie. Eastwood established a production company, Malpaso Productions, to help with this project, which was much more modest than McKenna's Gold. Eastwood set out on the turbulent waters of filmmaking with a pure passion for ``freeing myself to make the movies I wanted to make.'' And over 50 years ago!
By the way, malpaso means "difficult road" in Spanish. I can see Eastwood's iron will in choosing such a name for his production.
My first directorial work is about my own experience of being stalked.
