Steve McQueen, admired by Kevin Costner
Actor Steve McQueen is Kevin Costner's idol. Steve McQueen's influence on Costner in ``The Bodyguard'' (1992) can be seen in his fashion style, short cool-cut hairstyle, reactions, and poise. That makes sense, since ``The Bodyguard'' was originally written as a project starring Steve McQueen.
The script was written by Lawrence Kasdan around 1975 while working as a copywriter, refining it on his days off and at night. "I love Steve McQueen. I think ``The Bodyguard'' is similar to `` Bullitt '' (1968), The Day After he starred in. 17 years later (from 1975 when I wrote the script), I... "It's a strange thing because it was made into a movie starring Kevin Costner, who admired McQueen just as much as he did," Kasdan said of Costner's starring role after all these years.

Lawrence Kasdan gained attention as the screenwriter for `` Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back '' (1980) and `` Raiders of the Lost Ark' ' (1981). As a director, he has received high acclaim for films such as `` The Body Heat '' (1981) and `` The Time of Reunion '' (1983). Although Kevin Costner was one of the main cast members of ``When We Reunite,'' all of his scenes were edited out. He encouraged Costner, ``Let's do our best in another movie,'' and he followed through on his words with the Western movie `` Silverado '' (1985), produced, directed, and written by Lawrence Kasdan.
Kasdan and Costner's relationship on ``The Bodyguard'' dates back to Costner's early career. Therefore, it is not difficult to imagine that the fascination with Steve McQueen in the script translates into the fascination with Costner.

Costner, who played the role of Scott Glenn's younger brother in ``Silverado,'' was particular about standing out by performing his own dangerous stunts. This approach became Costner's policy even after he became a star, and caused trouble for producers, but...I won't discuss it here for now. Importantly, this commitment was the same as Steve McQueen's approach. When you watch McQueen's breakthrough film, ` `The Magnificent Seven '' (60), you can see McQueen's ``conspicuous'' movements, such as loading a bullet into a rifle and riding a horse, alongside leading actor Yul Brynner. You can confirm that you are doing the following.
