"Days of Being Wild" Synopsis

April 16, 1960, 3:01 minutes ago, you were with me. I'll never forget this minute. You are my 1-minute friend. ” Yodi (Leslie Cheung) says this to Sue (Maggie Cheung), a saleswoman at the soccer field. The two fall in love, but one day Yodi leaves Sue. Yodi does not know his biological mother, and this casts a shadow on his heart. Yodi spends the night with Mimi (Karina Lau), a nightclub dancer. When Mimi leaves the room, she runs into Yodi's best friend Sabu (Jackie Chun), who falls in love with her at first sight. Sue cannot forget Yodi and visits his room every night, and Tide (Andy Lau), a police officer on night patrol, has feelings for her. Set in Hong Kong in the 1960s, the fates and loves of young people intertwine, centering on Yodi. Eventually, their dreams from which they cannot wake up accelerate at a speed that is unimaginable.

Legendary Hong Kong movies were born from the countdown to Hong Kong's handover.

Hong Kong cinema in the 1980s was said to be the Hollywood of the East, with black society noirs such as Jackie Chan's kung fu films and ``A Better Tomorrow Elegies'' starring Chow Yun-fat, as well as Tsui Hark's productions and many other subcultures. He was at the height of his prosperity with his masterpieces, which were filled with all kinds of entertainment, such as ` `Chinese Ghost Story, '' which gave rise to the ``Chinese Ghost Story.''

However, on December 15, 1990, as if by a sudden mutation, a beautiful romantic film that could be called an art film that had never existed in the concept of Hong Kong cinema until then was released. The screening period is only 13 days. It also did not make it into the top 30 Hong Kong films of that year at the box office. However, its influence was so great that it won three categories at the 10th Hong Kong Film Awards (held in 1991): Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. This is Wong Kar-wai's second film, ``Days of Being Wild.''

What was notable about this film was that it featured characters who were deeply introspective, something that had rarely appeared in previous Hong Kong films, and that the emotional landscape surrounding their love life was beautifully distilled. The key point is that it is set in the recent past, 1960, 30 years before the year of release. 1960 was the youth of the parents of the cast, including Kar-Wai, who was in his early 30s at the time of production, and the cast members were in their late 20s.For young Hong Kong audiences, it is a great way to remember their parents and learn about Hong Kong's history. It also served as something to look back on.

On July 1, 1997, seven years after the film's release, the ``Hong Kong Handover'' is imminent, when Hong Kong's sovereignty will be returned and re-transferred from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China after a 1999-year lease. Where did we come from and where are we heading from now on? This work gave Hong Kong people, who until then had been running single-mindedly in pursuit of economic prosperity, an opportunity to stop and think.

The main character, Yodi, played by Leslie Cheung, is a man who spends his adoptive mother's money and does nothing. He dates Su Lichen (Maggie Cheung), a saleswoman at a soccer stadium, and Mimi (Karina Lau), a dancer at his adoptive mother's nightclub, but his heart is filled with longing for his birth mother, whom he has never met. No love can satisfy him. If we combine this relationship between Yoday's adoptive mother and biological mother with the wandering identity of Hong Kong people who are torn between Britain and China and wonder, ``Who are my real parents?'', this movie becomes more than just a romantic movie. You can see that it is full of.
