Melvin, the difficult role that baffled the famous actor Jack Nicholson

Melvin (Jack Nicholson), who is self-centered, always belligerent, and always swears at everyone, appears as an extremely stubborn man. In fact, it goes beyond the level of being "bad personality", and the anxiety and fear he constantly feels leads to repetitive behavior. Even for one of Hollywood's most famous actors, Melvin was a very difficult role. Director James L. Brooks said in an interview:

"I didn't help him at all. All I did was annoy him by saying, 'Maybe that's not right.' And he was clearly mired in a quagmire." (Quote: Variety interview )
