Punk legend Sid Vicious

In 1976, punk rock broke through Britain's feudal culture. Young people were enthusiastic about the sound. The band that became the eye of the typhoon was the Sex Pistols . They quickly took Britain by storm and became symbols of anti-establishment. Vocalist Johnny Rotten brings an aggressive and sarcastic tone to his songs, giving him the charisma of young people. On the other hand, bassist Sid Vicious became charismatic in a different way than Johnny. A punk legend who died at the age of 21 from a drug overdose.

``Sid and Nancy'' (1986), the early starring role for Gary Oldman, who now enjoys a brilliant career as an Academy Award-winning actor, is a biographical drama depicting the disastrous lives of Sid and his girlfriend Nancy. It's a spectacular love story. Produced in 1986, ten years after the creation of punk, the film was welcomed by young fans of punk rock. After all, I was able to come into contact with a "legend" that I had only heard about.

"Sid and Nancy" trailer

Let me briefly introduce the story. The story begins in 1978 with the shocking true story of Sid being arrested on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend Nancy, and from there it develops into his reminiscences. In 1977, Sid, who became a member of the Pistols, meets Nancy, a woman who came from the United States. She, a drug addict, and Sid, who prefers a destructive lifestyle, instantly hit it off and fall in love. And Sid also becomes addicted to drugs.

Meanwhile, the Pistols were steadily climbing the ladder of success. However, Johnny and other members become increasingly dissatisfied with Sid's inability to perform properly at live performances. The United States tour that they launched around the world did not yield much results due to Sid's mental instability, Johnny left the band midway through the tour, and the Pistols collapsed mid-air. Sid returns to England and begins to lead an even more debauched life with Nancy. Then tragedy struck in New York. That's the opening episode.
