James Gunn makes a complete comeback and reaches new heights

``Violent criminals take on a life-threatening mission to shorten their sentences.'' This simple plot is carried out by the Suicide Squad members we've introduced so far, as well as Amanda Waller. There are so many characters that even a simple introduction could fill up this volume, but Gunn succeeded in making them all play their roles in the 132-minute running time.

Without studio intervention or self-regulation, this work invites the viewer into the world of the work with its irreverent humor and numerous depictions of violence and destruction. The result can be described as a complete comeback of James Gunn. In the summer of 2018, he was temporarily fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. There may have been some fans (I am one of them) who were concerned about the influence it would have on his subsequent style. However, this work proves that there was no need for such worries at all.

On the contrary, Gunn became even more sharp as a writer. As you can see from the `` Super! '' and `` Guardians of the Galaxy '' series, he has repeatedly depicted the struggles of people who don't fit into society. Whether the cause lies within themselves, the environment or society around them, they desperately pursue their goals. This urgency has become even stronger after Gunn's own firing scandal.

In ``The Suicide Squad,'' the number of characters who ``desperately pursue their goals'' is unparalleled in Gunn's previous works. Of course, the number of roles they appear in varies, but it is James Gunn's writing and directing skills that give each character a role, write a drama, and give us a sense of their way of life. Through each person's battle, Gunn's prayer, ``Even if I'm not a righteous person...'' oozes out onto the screen. He also argues that by clearly announcing a return to his roots, ``it is possible to be both irreverent and convey a positive Arrival to society.''

Why did you choose a story about villains now? Why did they make a “wild” and “unethical” movie now? Needless to say, this is inevitable for Gunn after the firing scandal. In an interview, Gunn said of his current state of mind, ``Right now I'm only interested in creating and making the best story I can.'' In other words, Gan is currently in his purest state as a creator. And, if you think about it carefully, the villains in this movie are all extremely pure, aren't they? It is clear that their presence embraces and reflects Gunn's purity. The Suicide Squad is, without a doubt, the culmination of director James Gunn's work.
