“The Suicide Squad” Synopsis

The greatest threat to humanity, the forbidden "Monster" project. In order to save the world, 14 people were gathered in secret by the government, all of them sentenced to life in prison - a shark man, an evil cute, a weapon geek, a polka dot geek, and many others! The villains' sentences were only reduced to 10 years. In exchange, a death mission with a success rate of 0% begins!

There is probably no word that can better describe the work of director James Gunn than the four words "absurd". From his solo directorial debut, `` Slither '' (2006), to the well-known `` Guardians of the Galaxy '' series, his specialty is the unconventional settings and developments that defy the audience's expectations. In recent years, he has freely adopted a family-friendly style, but his early works were characterized by a fusion of vulgar humor and grotesquery.

The latest work, ``The Suicide Squad'' from Marvel to DC Comics, is also a ``ridiculous'' book. Returning to the pre-Marvel style, the villains are full of individuality and are drawn with no-frills expressions. Characters hold the key to everything in this work, in which a group of villains take on a deadly mission.

“The Suicide Squad” Preview

James Gunn, who brilliantly assembled a motley crew of heroes in Guardians of the Galaxy, how did he assemble a similarly motley crew of villains? First, let's take a look at "The Man Who Killed Superman Half-Dead."

Bloodsport/Ratcatcher 2

Gunn, who received permission from Warner Bros./DC Comics to ``use any characters he likes,'' inherited some of the cast from director David Ayer's `` Suicide Squad '' (2016), while also introducing many new features. We welcomed the cast and formed the strongest lineup. However, in the history of DC Comics, there are many unique characters lined up.

Bloodsport/Robert Dubois, who is introduced in the trailer as ``the man who killed Superman,'' is a mercenary with excellent combat skills and a high-tech suit. The role will be played by Idris Elba, who is also remembered for his role as Heimdall in the `` Thor '' series and `` Fast and Furious: Super Combo '' (2019).

Bloodsport, which Idris himself said he studied by going back through the history of DC Comics, first appeared in Superman magazine in 1987. The story is about a younger brother who escaped military service in the Vietnam War and instead went to the battlefield, losing a limb on the battlefield and living with the guilt of that loss. In the comics, he is hired by Lex Luthor to shoot Superman with a Kryptonite bullet, leaving him "half dead."

What's interesting is that at the time Idris was cast in The Suicide Squad, Gunn hadn't decided on a role. Only the setting was decided at the beginning, and the character Bloodsport was applied later. Perhaps that's why the comic's hard background is replaced with a different one in the movie version.

As a result, Bloodsport became a character that carried the emotional side of the story. The core of the story is his relationship with his daughter Tyra, played by Storm Reid. Ratcatcher 2, played by Daniela Melchior, is deeply involved in this.

Ratcatcher 2, an original character based on a Batman magazine villain, is a young novice criminal who moves to America from Portugal after losing his father, Ratcatcher (Taika Waititi). Melcior, who plays the role, is also a budding actress from Portugal, and this is her first time appearing in a Hollywood movie.

The Ratcatcher in the comics is a villain who freely controls rats and uses gas as a weapon, but Ratcatcher 2 fights primarily by controlling the rat Sebastian. However, in the Suicide Squad, which is full of songwriters, she is still young and doesn't even know what's right and what's left. To make matters worse, he always seems sleepy...

Bloodsport, who has been separated from his daughter, provides powerful support to her on the battlefield. The relationship that the two build is similar to the "family/pseudo-family" element common to many of James Gunn's works. In ``The Suicide Squad,'' the bond between these two characters grows stronger under the harsh conditions of extreme missions.
