I don't shoot regular comedies anymore.

McKay, who has been writing and directing the popular TV show " Saturday Night Live " since the 1990s, made his feature film debut with " We Are the Newscasters ." He has teamed up with actor and comedian Will Ferrell, including ` `We Step Brothers' ' (2008) and `` Other Guys: Hyper Detectives Who Dance!''. ” (10) and many other wild and irreverent comedies (sometimes as a producer).

However, since ` `Money Trading Places '' (15), there has been a major change in McKay's style. The film depicts the true story of the real estate bubble and the Lehman shock as a black comedy, and the subsequent film Vice (18) explores the life of Dick Cheney, who served as vice president in the George W. Bush administration.

It no longer makes sense to make old-fashioned comedy." Since then, given that McKay has used comedic methods to tackle contemporary issues rather than making comedy films - the same is true for the TV drama "Succession" (2018-), for which he is the producer - it seems that the current The awareness of the problem is obvious.

``Don't Look Up'' is a comedy movie that suddenly returned to McKay's filmography. However, McKay no longer had the desire to make comedies like he had before. David Sirota, who produced and wrote the original idea, is a hardcore journalist and served as Bernie Sanders' brains during the 2020 US presidential election.
