A love drama based on sex and conversation

The slowly moving camera shows the arcades and passageways designed in a geometric pattern from directly above. A huge apartment complex stands next to it. The scene, photographed in black and white, looks like a space station. Eventually, the camera approaches one of the houses and looks out the window at each room, as if guided by a Chinese song that can be heard from somewhere. However, when the cut changes, the camera has already entered a room in the apartment and captures a young woman, who appears to be of Asian descent, singing in the nude. Then, a man's voice is heard from off-screen, and a conversation between the two begins.

Jacques Audiard's latest film, ``Les Paris, 13th District,'' is, as the title suggests, a romantic film set in the Olympiades district of Paris, 13th District. The scene shown at the beginning is the Olympiad. However, the film's basic principles are clear as we move from the city to the rooms and then to the faces and bodies of the people who live there. The main characters are not the city itself, but the people who live there, and the important themes are skin and voice. This is a drama that takes advantage of people's skin and voices, that is, a love drama based on sex and conversation.
