A highly rare legendary work has evolved into a 4K version.

Among the world's film directors, there are few who have continued to unleash their wild and wild imagination at full throttle for as long as Terry Gilliam.

If you want to deeply understand the mysteries of his creativity, one way is to delve into the many hits that immediately catch your eye in his filmography, but what is more effective is to first trace back to the origins of his ``first directorial work.'' You will be immersed in the world view.

However, one should be careful when talking about Gilliam's feature directorial debut. Because there are two works that correspond to that. One is `` Monty Python and the Holy Grail '' (1975), which he co-directed with Terry Jones, and the other is ``Jabberwocky'' (1977), which we will introduce here.

“Jabberwocky 4K restored version” preview

The latter is a memorable work in which Gilliam left the Monty Python name and made his solo directorial debut. In fact, this work is famous as a rare work in Japan, and since it was released in theaters in 1980, it has never been made into a DVD, although it has been made into a video. For this reason, its very existence has become legendary among fans, as a rare masterpiece.

This is good news for those who love Gilliam. This masterpiece, known only to those in the know, has now undergone a 4K restoration funded by Martin Scorsese and George Lucas, and has been transformed into an astonishing picture scroll that is far beyond what you could imagine from the deteriorated original footage. It is set to return to Japanese movie theaters from July 1st.
